Additionally what I love in this healthy bowl is its incredible creaminess. First, I use coconut milk (can) to cook the quinoa. Then I add a splash of coconut yoghurt for its delicious texture. Skip the yoghurt if you don’t have it, it remains creamy enough to make it a fantastic tasty breakfast alternative.
Furthermore, the hit of cinnamon helps you to alter the metabolism and the delicious fruit topping gives you a fresh vitamin kick.

Is cinnamon a healthy spice?
First, cinnamon from Ceylon is the best cinnamon you can find. It means “true cinnamon” and is native to Sri Lanka and South India.
On the other side, Cassia cinnamon is from South China, very cheap and is very low in quality (and with less benefits).
For example, Cinnamon in general is known to help to control insulin levels. Thanks to the cinnamon, your body is able to use your carbohydrate storage, so that they do not turn into excess fat.
I really like to use Ceylon cinnamon for its nutrients and it is definitely a way I found to avoid adding sugar in my sweet or dessert recipes.
Try it out and add cinnamon regularly to your meals.

WARM QUINOA BREAKFAST BOWL
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup quinoa
- 2 cups coconut milk - (from can)
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 4 tbsp non dairy yoghurt of your choice - (my favorite is coconut yoghurt)
- ½ cup fresh fruits, cut into pieces
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or coconut nectar if needed
INSTRUCTIONS
- Wash and drain the quinoa thoroughly.
- Bring the quinoa with the coconut milk and the cinnamon to a boil, uncovered. Reduce the heat and cook for about 15 minutes.
- Divide the warm quinoa among 2 bowls and add some yoghurt (and some natural sweetener if you want). Combine all together.
- Top your bowls with fruits of your choice, coconut chips, cacao nibs, hemp seeds, baobab powder – whatever you love and you have at home ! Serve immediately !
