Homemade Immunity Booster With Kiwi And Fresh Turmeric Root

Immunity booster main image

My secret to avoid getting sick is my homemade immunity booster with kiwi and turmeric that tastes great and works pretty well. If you have heard about immunity booster you know that they usually contain lemon and ginger but I love to twist the recipe with extra ingredients and make it a health bomb. This homemade immunity booster recipe has lemon and ginger, but also fresh turmeric, kiwi, fresh black pepper, and cayenne pepper. It is great for flu season and healthy gut. And it improves overall health !

Not only it is incredibly fresh (and fresher than in the supermarkets) but it is cheaper to make it at home.

This immunity booster recipe contains simple and plant-based ingredients that are easy to find. Once juiced (in a cold-pressed juicer if possible), it is at its best for the first 48 hours. But I usually keep it for up to 5 days because it makes sense to use it for a week and it still has great benefits. I have heard it could be frozen too in small airtight container jars (you just need to let it thaw in the fridge the night before).

Homemade Immunity Booster

What does it make a health bomb?

All the ingredients that are juiced for this homemade booster recipe are packed with the best nutrients especially because I use fresh ginger and fresh turmeric root.

Lemon : is refreshing, has vitamin C and maintains hydration. Ginger : this root boosts your immune system, has anti-inflammatory properties and helps with digestion. Turmeric : here is another root that is also anti-inflammatory-rich food. Kiwi : it contains vitamin E and is high in vitamin C to support overall health and skin. It can improve sleep too.

Finally, my 2 key ingredients are definitely fresh black pepper and cayenne pepper. Fresh black pepper : is great for activating the turmeric. Cayenne pepper : it is a moderately hot chili pepper that you find in the spice section (a red powder). It is well known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, and anti-fungal effects.

If you want more powerful drink options, check my smoothies and drinks section. It is a dream for your health and your taste butts. Because I always try to make my healthy recipes tasty.

What is a cold-pressed juicer vs. regular juicer (or centrifugal juicer)?

I invested a few years ago in a cold-pressed juicer for its benefits. Briefly, thanks to its minimal heat, it retains more vitamins and enzymes. It has a longer shelf life than regular centrifugal juice. And finally it contains more soluble fiber.

It is a winner.

Customizable?

I love to juice together ginger, and lemon with kiwi and turmeric.

But you might not like the taste of turmeric and simply swap it for more ginger (and a more spicy taste).

Same with the kiwi, if they are not available, just go for oranges or pineapple as they are packed with great vitamins too. Why kiwi, orange, or pineapple? Because it sweetens this booster recipe and brings more vitamin C.

Feel free to improve this bomb with other healthy ingredients, if you wish. Just skip apples and celery (talking about experience here) because they are best on the same day (color and taste can change quickly with these two).

How to keep your kitchen (and accessories) spotless with turmeric?

If you use to cook with turmeric, you know that it can leave some stubborn stains. But it will not stain glass. So I usually juice it directly in a glass jar or container (instead of the usual plastic one).

When cleaning my juicer, I wear gloves because turmeric can turn the fingers into an orange color (it goes away but it will take some time).

It is great to use an old sponge as well when cleaning all containers or juicers.

Anyway, with baking soda, vinegar or regular lemon dish soap, you can get rid of them (Jif works well too but it has chemicals).
