In my day to day life, I love to have a green smoothie bowl recipe on hand that tastes fantastic. This recipe is simply genius because on top of being delicious, it is a great source of fiber, protein, healthy fats and it is easy to digest (gluten free). It’s a perfect breakfast to start your day with.

If I’ve had a smoothie or a fresh juice for breakfast, I love to make this green smoothie bowl recipe after workout to refuel and keep our level of energy high.

Why do I love breakfast bowls? What do they hide?

Green smoothie bowls (and specially this recipe) are definitely awesome : it’s actually the best way to turn your morning smoothie into a meal and it’s EASY !

Needless to say, that it doesn’t taste like vegetables and it is really creamy!

This green smoothie bowl is a 6 ingredients bowl and you’ll start the journey with all the greens you need. Here I blend together avocado, banana, spinach, kale, lemon and almond milk. With all those ingredients, I reach a perfect consistency and a bowl that is naturally sweet.

Aditionally, this recipe is a perfect option for a gluten free breakfast too.

One more thing that I love about bowls is their topping. Choose your favorite fruits and superfood to make it totally insane and so cute !

Are you banana about banana?!

It’s true that they have more sugar than other fruits but they will fit perfectly in a well-balanced diet. I use banana for smoothie bowls but I have more healthy recipes including bananas too, try out my (famous) banana blueberries pancake or a raw cacao banana smoothie for any snack ! Yum !

GREEN SMOOTHIE BOWL

Rich in vitamins and fibre, it’s perfect for breakfast or an early lunch !

INGREDIENTS

BOWL

  • 1/2 avocado - (ripe)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 2 cups young spinach leaves
  • 2 cups kale leaves
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/4 cup almond milk

TOPPING

  • 1/2 kiwi, sliced
  • 1 tbsp roasted buckwheat groats
  • 1 tbsp hazelnuts
  • 2 tbsp coconut flakes

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Remove thick middle stems from the kale leaves, using a sharp knife and chop the leaves into big pieces.
  • Wash and drain the kale and spinach leaves.
  • Place all the bowl’s ingredients in your blender.
  • Blend until smooth, for about 40-50 seconds. Add more almond milk, if needed.
  • Transfer to a bowl and decorate with the topping ingredients. Serve immediately !
