This is a must try. Swap out sometimes your morning coffee for a delicious powerful matcha latte. Simply because this green tea is a nice way to start your day right and the taste is delicious. You can easily adjust its taste to your sweetness by adding a splash of maple syrup. It’s full of antioxidants and it definitely boots your energy.

Personally I can’t have a matcha latte in the afternoon because it keeps me awake all night. Actually I am quite sensitive to caffeine too. So I guess you have to explore your own self here.

What is matcha green tea exactly?

Unlike steeped tea, matcha is made by grinding the entire tea leaf into a powder.

Because you consume the whole leaf, it has approximately 10x more nutrients than regular green tea. This is the secret behind matcha green tea.

And it contains a stimulant in the form of caffeine.

Matcha tastes slightly bitter with a twist of sweetness and mystery in it. And nothing beats a homemade powerful matcha latte without chemicals or excessive sweetener.

How to do a matcha latte that tastes delicious?

As I do Matcha on a regular basis, I can tell you that the best way is to sift your matcha powder using a small sieve to avoid a crumbly or grainy matcha latte. You can do it directly into your matcha mug or your favorite cup.

Then you will add a bit of hot water and whisk briskly until it creates some foam on top. This is what I call a frothy consistency. Then you add more hot water and whisk again.

On the side you warm up the milk using a milk frother or if you don’t have any frother, use a pan. In this case you warm it up on medium heat and whisk until you reach some froth on top.

Finally you will pour the milk into your matcha cup, sweeten it eventually and enjoy it right away !

POWERFUL MATCHA LATTE

Nothing better than to start the day with a matcha latte ! It is an easy peasy recipe. Check it out !

Ingredients
 

  • 1 tsp matcha green tea powder
  • ½ cup hot water (70°C – 85°C not boiling)
  • ½ cup almond (or cashew) milk
  • 1-2 tsp honey, maple syrup, or stevia to taste, (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Sift 1 tsp of matcha powder through a sieve letting the powder fall directly into your cup.
  • Add half of the hot water to the cup and using a bamboo whisk or a regular whisker, whisk briskly in a up-and-down direction, to make a thick, soft and frothy consistency.
  • Then pour the remaining hot water to it and stir again. Place on the side.
  • Use a milk frother to warm and froth the milk. Or warm the milk in a small pot for few minutes on medium heat whisking regularly for a frothy consistency.
  • Add the warm milk to the matcha.
  • Sweeten it at your own taste and enjoy.
