Oat Bars Coated With Homemade Chocolate
My new oat bars coated with a homemade chocolate topping are so delicious and crunchy (and so satisfying).
These bars make a fabulous snack and they give you enough energy for the rest of the day.
Furthermore, this healthy bars recipe is gluten-free if you use gluten-free oats and totally vegan (no butter or eggs in here).
Oat bars are a great staple in your kitchen and if they are coated with homemade chocolate, it’s a divine dessert. It’s a 20 minutes recipe and the fridge does the rest, no need to bake anything.
How to do homemade chocolate?
To make my own chocolate, I heat a pan over medium heat with some raw cacao, vegetal milk, coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla. I continuously whisk making sure it is not boiling until it is well combined. This is it.
These oat bars coated with chocolate are healthy (and totally guilt-free) and packed with nutrients.
Finally, I usually make them during the week-end for the rest of the week.
Top Tip
I’ve added some maca powder (I know I use a lot of maca) but it’s so good and it is great for hormone balance, and energy levels. It is also a natural source of healing nutrition.
Maca powder is usually available in powder form. It’s coming from the maca root.
You can add it to your smoothie, yoghurt, cookies, etc…
More dessert like this one?
If you like vegan dessert (because they are totally insane), try the adorable mini cheesecake or the (so tasty) raw chocolate truffles. It’s party time whenever I cook them.

OAT BARS COATED WITH HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE
Ingredients
BARS
- 1 cup oat (gluten free)
- ½ cup desiccated coconut (natural)
- ⅓ cup almond butter
- 3 tbsp coconut oil (melted)
- 1 tbsp cacao nibs
- 1 tbsp chia seed
- 1 tbsp maca powder
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 pinch vanilla extract or powder
- 1 pinch Himalayan salt
COATING
- 2 tbsp milk (almond or cashew)
- ⅓ cup coconut oil
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- ⅓ cup raw cacao powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract or powder
TOPPING
- Few roasted pecans and cashews, chopped
- 1 tsp cacao nibs
- Sea salt flakes
- Dried flowers
Instructions
BARS
- Combine the bar ingredients together and mix with a spoon until well coated (it might take 5 minutes). Press the mixture together.
- Then press it firmly into the bottom of a cake pan lined with parchment paper (I use a rectangular loaf cake pan 22cmx13cm). The thickness of your bar is approx. 1 cm.
- Put into the fridge and prepare the coating.
COATING
- Combine the coating ingredients in a pan and heat gently (low heat) until the coconut is totally melted (do not boil), whisking regularly. Remove from the heat and whisk until smooth. Let it cool for few minutes to thicken.
- Remove the bars from the fridge and pour the chocolate coating over them.
TOPPING
- Sprinkle the nuts, cacao nibs, and sea salt flakes over the top. Chill overnight in the fridge (or at least for 1-2 hours).
